I absolutely fucking live Dan Abnett but there are 2 warnings I would give anyone using him as a jumping off point for 40K lore.ĭan Abnett was and arguably is Black libraries most influential writer. *Well, in a way that avoids nailing the PC to a tree and setting him on fire, anyway. DH is designed to support adventures on feudal worlds, so just set up an extended one where the Lore and Peer skills are slightly modified, and you should be fine. Overall, I think it would be an interesting experiment, and don't see why it would have a lot of trouble. I think that any modification to the class would ultimately result in something completely nerfed or completely unrecognizable and "bolted on" to the WFRP world. Most of his cool powers are of specific nature (levitating, lightning bolts, extra limbs) and would be hard to explain in the context of the WFRP setting*. The Tech-Priest would just have to be tossed. You want healing? Find an NPC priestess of Shallya. Since they don't get priestly powers and it would be hella difficult to add them, I'd say to 'just say no' to players having traditional fantasy magical clerics. DH clerics are geared toward being a jack-of-all-trades with strong leadership talents dominating. DH's tendency toward lower stats and bigger incidental modifiers is something that we've gotten used to, though, and it would be a huge pain in the ass to reconfigure the advancement scheme to balance that.Īs for DH careers, I would convert the Cleric into some sort of generic Noble/leader analogue. That said, I have a lot of nostalgia for the WFRP career system, and would hate to see it go. The crit tables, the cleaner systems for interaction, fear/shock, combat tweaks are all good. There are definitely a lot of WFRP things that are improved in DH, and if I ever get the chance to run WFRP again, I will certainly incorporate them.
